Steven de Bie is a scientist and businessman, a generator of ideas and a freethinker, scientist, negotiator and facilitator. Always on the lookout for opportunities, that are out-of-the-box, creative but realistic, and challenging, and also feasible in business terms and better for biodiversity and society as we move towards a sustainable future.
The prime focus of his work is biodiversity and ecosystems: how can biodiversity loss be halted without harming economic development? Biodiversity and business: friend or foe? He successfully engage with companies to motivate and involve businesses in addressing biodiversity as part of their business policy and plans.
Steven de Bie managed the No Net Loss initiative in the Netherlands (2010-2012) to develop and execute projects in the field of No Net Loss for biodiversity, habitat banking and bio-credits.
Steven has a broad network with nature conservation organisations, businesses, and science and knowledge institutions, both in the Netherlands and internationally. He has extensive experience with stakeholder engagement and consensus-building, impact assessments, strategy development and scientific research projects and methodology development and assessment.
